Gut the hut!

Gut the hut!

Today is “Gut the hut” day!

Hubby has gone to help our son gut the small hut which is in the back corner of our son and daughter-in-law’s property.

It is a cute little shed.

However, the former owners of the property used it as a “smoking shed” for their cigar-smoking hobby.   Hence … the inside smells awful!

For several years now our son has tried everything he can think of to try to remove the stench from inside the shed.   But the smell is so overpowering, the shed is basically useless.

Our son would like to actually use the little shed for something purposeful.   He would like to put in a window and turn it into an office space.

But first the shed must be completely “gutted.”

Everything must go.

All of the sheetrock has already been removed from the walls and ceiling.

The insulation will be pulled out today.    The flooring pulled up.   And everything will be toted off to the dump.

Next weekend is another “Hut” workday, and hubby will be helping our son re-build the inside of the hut.    They will be installing a window in the side of the hut for sunlight.    They will be installing fresh new insulation, running new electrical wiring, installing new sheetrock for walls, ceiling, and floor.    The hut is receiving a completely new interior  …  for a brand-new purpose.

This right here is a great picture of what happens in the life of someone who chooses to follow Jesus  Christ as their Lord and Savior.

We each are like the “smoking shed” in our son and daughter-in-law’s back yard.    We look pretty good from the outside, but our inside is filled with the “stench” of sin.    There’s nothing we can do on our own to get rid of the “stench” of sin from our life.

The sin must be completely removed.

When we surrender to Jesus Christ and give our life to him  …  a “Gut the hut” moment happens!

God instantaneously “guts” and removes all the sin and “stench” from our insides.   The “old” person who we used to be is removed and “toted off to the dump.”   Our sin is completely removed.    And a “new” nature is given to us by God.

As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.”   – Psalm 103:12

You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires;  to be made new in the attitude of your minds;  and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”   – Ephesians 4:22-24

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation;  the old has gone, the new has come!”   – 2 Corinthians 5:17

As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air [Satan], the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.

All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts.   Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath.

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions – it is by grace you have been saved.”   – Ephesians 2:1-5

Have you had a “Gut the hut” encounter with God?

If not, God can “Gut the hut” and make you brand new today!   Immediately.

For whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”   – Romans 10:13

These things are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”   – John 20:31
