Your “Fix” has arrived!

Your “Fix” has arrived!

When it comes to fashion, I am not a fashion-savvy person.   My go-to wardrobe is a vacation t-shirt/sweatshirt (from somewhere hubby & I have traveled), paired with jeans from Costco.

Coming up, in the next month, I have several important events I will be attending.   A vacation t-shirt/sweatshirt paired with jeans is simply not the clothing for these events.   I need something nicer.

To be honest, I hate clothes shopping.   And furthermore, in this new age of purchasing everything online,  I don’t even know where to begin looking for a wardrobe update.

My daughter to the rescue!    My daughter is very classy and fashionable.

Upon presenting my dilemma to my daughter she recommended Stitch Fix.   Stitch Fix is an online company where a stylist helps select outfits for you.

I’m willing to give it a try.   So I sign up.

The way Stitch Fix works is you peruse their online selection of clothing items.   Anything you like, you can click the little red “heart”  …  this lets the AI system (and the stylist) know what types of things you are interested in.    If you would like to go ahead and purchase something you totally can.   But what’s more fun is to wait for your “Fix” to show up at your front door.

Lo and behold  …  my “Fix” just happened to arrive this week!    How exciting!    I can’t wait to see what my stylist selected for me!

Check it out!   In my “Fix” I received a pretty white top,  a skirt to go with it,  a warm cozy flannel shirt, and jeans.    These items will be perfect for my upcoming events.   I can even mix-and-match them to make different outfit combinations.

It is a lot of fun to receive a “Fix” in the mail  …  and to see the clothing items my stylist selected for me.

The Bible says:   “I delight greatly in the LORD;  my soul rejoices in my God.   For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness.”   – Isaiah 61:10

Just like my “Fix” which showed up at my front door with new clothing items for me to wear  …  so also, spiritually speaking, God sends us a “Fix” each day with new “spiritual clothing” for us to wear.

In my most recent “Fix” I had specifically requested to receive the pretty white top.   All the other items in the “Fix” the stylist selected for me.    I loved them all and they were perfect for what I need.

We can do the same thing when it comes to the spiritual “Fix” God sends us.

For example, this week I have been working through some grief.    So I specifically requested the Holy Spirit to give me something to replace my “garments of mourning.”

He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted  …  to comfort all who mourn  …  to bestow on them beauty instead of ashes, gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.”  – Isaiah 61:1-3

God sent me just what I needed in my “Fix” yesterday.    God sent me a “garment of peace” to replace my “garments of mourning.”    And paired along with it, God also sent me a “garment of joy”  …  a “garment of trust”  …  and a “garment of surrender.”

The Holy Spirit – as my “stylist” – knew just what I needed!

I needed some trust to go along with my peace.    I needed some surrender.   And I needed some joy.

What I receive from Stitch Fix in my “Fix” is not what you would necessarily want to receive in a “Fix” which shows up at your front door.    You have different clothing needs.    You have different events occurring in your life than I do, which require different clothing options than I need.

The pretty white top, which I loved so much, is probably not a clothing item you would prefer.   There are different clothing items which would appeal to you.    Different clothing items which would look great on you.

So too, the same thing is true when it comes to the spiritual “Fix” the Holy Spirit designs for each of our hearts.

Perhaps you might be needing a “garment of patience” or maybe a “garment of forgiveness.”

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion,  kindness,  humility,  gentleness and patience.   Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another.  Forgive as the Lord forgave you.     And over all these virtues put on love.”   – Colossians 3:12-14

When the Holy Spirit – as your “stylist” – send you your “Fix” he might include, along with the “garment of patience” you requested,  a “garment of humility” to go with it.   And perhaps maybe a “garment of gentleness.”

You and I each open up the “front door” of our heart each morning and there is the “Fix” the Holy Spirit has designed just for us!   We open up the box to see what’s inside!

That “garment of humility” look good on you!

That “garment of gentleness” is very becoming!

For sure the Holy Spirit includes a “garment of love” in each of our “Fix” boxes.    Your “garment of love” will look slightly different than my “garment of love” which the Holy Spirit has selected for me.    But to be sure, a “garment of love” is a staple when it comes to our wardrobe of righteousness.

The Holy Spirit is your “stylist” and he knows exactly what you need in your “Fix.”

The Holy Spirit is my “stylist” and he knows exactly what I need in my “Fix.”

“You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off the old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires;  to be made new in the attitude of your minds;  and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”   – Ephesians 4:22-24

“For all of you who were baptized in Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.”   – Galatians 3:27

Clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ.”   – Romans 13:14

Your “Fix” has arrived!    You’ve got new “garments of righteousness” to wear!

I put on righteousness as my clothing;   justice was my robe.”   – Job 29:14

“Fine linen, bright and clean, was given [the saints] to wear.  (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of the saints.)”  – Revelation 19:8
