Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

This morning at 6:13am, little Rosie (21-weeks in the womb)  was delivered into this world  …  and taken into the arms of Jesus into heaven.

And the tears fall.

All day yesterday, the verse which kept going over and over in my mind was:     “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”   – Matthew 5:4

My daughter went down to the hospital and sat with our precious friends all yesterday afternoon.   In times like these there are no words.   Just being there is all that’s needed.   The gift of presence is comfort.

And so too  …  when we mourn God is with us in our grief.   God is right there with us in our mourning.   And we are comforted.

I was thinking of this photo I took this past summer when I was up on top of the house helping hubby with a project.    Gazing down from way up high on top of the house  …  there was the circle where I walk my loops for exercise each day.

It looks so small from way up here.

As I stood gazing down on the small circle I was thinking about how I do a lot of praying as I walk my loops for exercise each day.    I do a lot of praying for the people God has given me to love.

And being way up high looking down, I thought:  “This is probably what God’s view is like as I’m way down there walking loops and praying.    God is way up high  …  and I’m teeny tiny way down there.”

And yet God cares.    God cares about teeny tiny me, way down there.     God cares about the prayers I’m praying as I walk that loop.

And God comes down.

God comes down from way up high  …  and God is right there with me, each step alongside me, as I’m walking my loops and praying for my people.

As precious little Rosie has just been taken into Heaven, and the tears fall  …  I find great comfort that our God isn’t way up there.    Our God is right here.    Our God is right here with me at my dining table as I’m weeping.    There is something very healing about crying.    I don’t know what, but there is healing in weeping.

God is right there in the hospital room this morning as the brokenhearted mama and daddy hold their precious little girl in their arms.    God is with them.    And God is comforting them.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”   – Matthew 5:4

God’s comfort surrounds us with peace.    A strange supernatural peace  …  even in the middle of the grief.

God’s comfort assures us we will see little Rosie again.    She’s in Heaven.    She’s waiting for us.    And we will see her!    And we are filled with God’s blessing of hope!    And there is comfort!

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”   – Matthew 5:4
