There I was all smug this morning as I stood on the front porch admiring the fact that my Bunchberry Dogwoods are starting to recover. The deer have been having coyote consternations this Spring, which has kept them away. (a litter of coyote pups was born last year, so this year the coyotes have been giving the deer a lot of consternation!)
Don’t be too smug! Look what I just now noticed … (eye-roll emoji!)

You bet I went right out there and told her to “Get out of my Bunchberries.”
She obeyed. She knew she was where she wasn’t supposed to be. I stood there sternly on the front porch, watching her as she moseyed over to the other flowerbed.
Lo and behold … there were two!

The second doe didn’t even stir. She continued to lie there peacefully chewing her cud, completely unphased by all the ruckus. It was as if she totally knew her friend was going to get busted. (Ha!)
The moral of the story – Don’t be too smug!
“Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.” – Proverbs 16:18
