It has been raining and raining and raining!
Which is exactly why my garden won’t grow.
And … it’s also the reason I am blessed to live in a world of intense vivid green in every hue imaginable!
I was standing out on the front porch this morning after hubby drove away to work, with the rain pattering down, in awe of just how intense the green of my world is! The forest is such an intense vivid green it almost makes your eyes hurt. So many different varying hues, tones, and nuances of green!

I came across this fascinating piece of information yesterday:
“Green sits right in the middle of our visible spectrum, where our vision is most sensitive. Because of that, we can detect very small differences between shades of green more easily than other colors. Green environments are naturally easy for our eyes to process, which can help reduce strain and make us feel more calm and focused.”
Fascinating.
As I was standing out on the front porch this morning, listening to the rain pattering on all the millions of leaves throughout the forest, and soaking in the intensity of all the varying nuances of green … a little Rufous Red hummingbird caught my eye. He was patrolling the feeder which was sitting on the front porch railing.
This little Rufous hummingbird has brilliant red coloring on his head and neck. In the morning light, the Rufous’s stunning red flashed and shimmered as he turned his head this way and that.
He had taken up a post on a leftover dried flower stalk from last year’s lupines, in the front flowerbed. From this dried brown flower stalk, the tiny, little Rufous sat and guarded his domain! … while I watched in awe and wonder at the beautiful red flashing and shimmering as he turned his head this way and that!
A world of intense vibrant green, in every hue imaginable … with a little flash & shimmer of red! Wow!
Thank you God for the blessing of being able to see intense vibrant green, in every hue imaginable! With little flashes and shimmers of red!
I stepped inside to fix my hot coco for breakfast … and as I glanced out my back windows, all I could see was a world of intense vibrant green in every hue imaginable … with a little splash of joyful red from my Hoopes rose which was blooming on the back deck!
The contrast was so striking! So joyful!
The splash of red color wouldn’t be nearly as powerful if it wasn’t set in a world of such intense vibrant green!
Sprinkled all across the green grass are little yellow “pops” of color! Little yellow buttercup blooms adding a splash of joy to the world of vibrant green!

Thank you God for the “pops” of yellow color sprinkling joy throughout my world of intense vibrant green, in every hue imaginable!
The green of the cedar boughs is a completely different shade than the green of the big-leaf maple leaves … and speaking of which … here comes the little flash of shimmering red to the back feeder as two other little hummers are peacefully minding their own business having their breakfast.

Even down in amongst the grass, the blades of grass are a different shade of green than the green of the dandelion leaves and buttercup leaves.

The ferns have their own particular green … which is different from the Salal’s green color (you can see it growing right in the center of the ferns) … which is different from the green of the moss growing on the cedar trunk … which is different from the green of the grass growing in the background.

The green color of the ferns is different from the green color of the Red Huckleberry.

And speaking of the Red Huckleberry … check out the little joyful splashes of red color tucked away here and there as hidden surprises!

I must pause everything and verify with Google if wild Red Huckleberry is safe to eat.
Yes! It is.
Don’t mind if I do.
Tart … but tasty. One will suffice. I’ll leave the rest for the wildlife.

Thank you God for the blessing of living in a world of intense vivid green, in every hue imaginable!
With little flashes & shimmers of red!
And with “pops” of yellow color sprinkled here and there.
And with little splashes of joyful red from roses blooming! And little joyful splashes of red berries tucked away here and there!
Our world would be very hard place to live in if the majority of what we saw was a world of intense vibrant red in every hue imaginable! That would drive our nervous system crazy! We would not be able to rest or relax at all.
But God gave us a green world. And not just a plain one-shade boring green world.
God gave us a vibrant, intense, vivid green world … with every hue imaginable! Thank you God for your fabulous care for us in creation!
