Last night my kids came over to celebrate Cinco de Madre. (it’s something my kids invented in the place of Mother’s Day … we celebrate on Cinco de Mayo but instead we call it Cinco de Madre.)
Here you can see the graphic my son had AI create for the occasion. Is that not hilarious! Check out the deer wearing sombreros outside in the forest. Haha! Too funny!

My kids brought over tacos and a special cake for our Cinco de Madre party. And … my daughter brought bunny along to the party!
Of course bunny had to join us at the table as we enjoyed Cinco de Madre cake.

Bunny is “seated at the table.”
What a radical transformation has taken place in bunny over the past two months!
Here is the very first photo of bunny my daughter received when her friends were first trying to convince her to adopt their bunny. Bunny had only ever lived outside in a cage on their back patio. Bunny had never known anything other than living in a cage on their back patio.

After coming to live with my daughter, bunny was very timid and unsure. Bunny spent most of his time hiding in his bunny cave, within the safety of his bunny playpen.

Even though bunny could have easily hopped out of his bunny playpen, bunny didn’t even try. Bunny didn’t know he could easily hop out. Bunny had never hopped or jumped before. The only thing bunny had ever known was living in a cage out on a back patio.
Now … two months later … bunny is a radically different bunny. I loved this selfie my daughter recently sent me. Bunny is propped up on her lap watching tv with her. Doesn’t he look like he owns the place! Haha!

Bunny is confident in my daughter’s love for him. He knows he is loved. He knows he is cared for. He knows he has a seat on her lap to watch tv. He exudes confidence.
Not only that, bunny has become very adept at hopping and jumping. There is now no need for a bunny playpen anymore … bunny easily hops right out! Here you can see bunny relaxing on my daughter’s living room floor. He looks like he owns the place.

He knows he is loved! He knows he belongs. He knows this place is his.
As bunny was “seated at the table” with me last night, I couldn’t help but think how Jesus takes each one of us from wherever we were (just like bunny coming from his cage out on a back patio) … and Jesus accepts us … Jesus calls us his!
God the Father adopts us! God welcomes us into his Heavenly home!
No longer do we have to be who we used to be. (just like bunny is no longer the timid, shy, unsure bunny he used to be) We are now loved and chosen! We are cared for! We belong!
“But you are a chosen people … a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” – 1 Peter 2:9
Jesus told a parable about a great banquet and how many guests were invited. Even after all the guests were invited, there was still lots of room at the banquet. So, the servants were sent out into the streets and alleys of the town and instructed to bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame. Everyone was brought in to enjoy the great banquet! (Luke 14:16-23)
This is what God has done for us! God has invited us to come have a “seat at the table” at his great banquet in Heaven! God has a place at His table for us!
No longer does bunny have to sit all alone in a cage on a back patio … bunny has a seat at the table! Bunny gets to enjoy the party too!
This right here is what God has done for each of us! If we repent of our sin and accept Jesus’s free gift of salvation … we too have a seat at the table! We get to enjoy the great party in Heaven!
“Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: ‘Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reign. Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb [Jesus Christ] has come, and his bride [all the followers of Jesus] has made herself ready. Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear.’ (Fine linen stand for the righteous acts of the saints.)
“Then the angel said to me, ‘Write: “Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!” – Revelation 19:6-9
Have you accepted Jesus’s free gift of salvation? Do you have a seat at the table??
