“Water under the bridge”

“Water under the bridge”

When it comes to having a relationship with someone, we will all eventually wind up doing something which will offend or be hurtful to the other person.   Most of the time we won’t even realize we have done something hurtful.

“The person who covers over an offense promotes love, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends.”  – Proverbs 17:9

Some things are “water under the bridge.”   Some things which we feel offended by we need to just let go of and let them float away downstream with the current.   Rehashing the offense won’t necessarily make it better.   It’s “water under the bridge.”   We need to let it go.

Sometimes life blows storms!   Trees are toppled in the storm and swept downstream by the torrent.   In the chaos and swirl of the river, the tree strikes the bridge.

Life’s storms come to us all.   We all have “trees that are toppled” in our life by life’s storms.   Big things which were “pillars” in our life come crashing down!

These “downed trees” (disappointments, hurts, etc. …) swirl in the chaos of our soul  …  and wind up accidentally striking the “relational bridge” as they are swept downstream.

“A foolish person shows their annoyance at once, but a prudent person overlooks an insult.”  – Proverbs 12:16

When the “relational bridge” gets struck by “downed trees”  …  we need to learn how to let it go.   Some things we need to just let go of and let them float away downstream with the current.

“A person’s wisdom gives them patience;  it is to their glory to overlook an offense.”  – Proverbs 19:11
