Today I’m busy making a gluten-free, sugar-free, dairy-free version of Pumpkin Bread, using frozen pumpkin from what we grew in the garden this past Summer.
Did you know it is possible to make gluten-free, sugar-free, dairy-free Chocolate Chip Cookies which taste almost exactly like the original version.
Just use dates … in the place of the sugar; use avocado oil … in the place of the butter.

And use any sort of gluten-free flour which strikes your fancy. Personally, I keep on hand a variety of different gluten-free flours … which I mix-and-match in recipes based on whatever mood I’m in.

The all-important key for making gluten-free, sugar-free, dairy-free Chocolate Chip cookies is: a high-speed blender! The recipe won’t work without the correct tool.
It’s crucial to the recipe that the dates, avocado oil, and eggs be blended together in a high-speed blender. The end result will be almost equivalent to the standard recipe’s version of “beat with a mixer the butter/sugar/eggs.”
The correct kitchen tool is vital for the end product to turn out.
My kitchen drawer has all kinds of kitchen tools in it.

I can do a variety of culinary things with all the tools in my kitchen drawer. I can make all kinds of amazing food items with the tools in my kitchen drawer.
My kitchen drawer makes me think that this is what it’s like when we read our Bible. The promises God gives us in the Bible are like “tools” for our life.
The examples of the people in the Bible are like “tools” which we can use in our own life.
The instructions in the Bible are like “tools” which we can use to make something amazing out of the “ingredients” life gives us.
Sometimes life gives us “ingredients” we don’t like. Such as: a devastating diagnosis … a crushing disappointment … an unexpected disaster … etc. Our hope is dashed. Every dream we once had crumbles to pieces.
What do we do with this??
We do not want these “ingredients” life has just dumped on us.
This is why it is vital to have a “kitchen drawer” (so to speak) full of spiritual “tools.” This is why it is so vital to be reading God’s Word every day. As we read the Bible every day, we are adding “tools” to our “kitchen drawer” (so to speak).
Each day we look at the “ingredients” life gives us … then we open up our “kitchen drawer” … and we pull out some “tools” to make something with this.
Our “ingredients” might be a coworker stealing our project at work … in order to advance themselves off of our hard work.
Our “ingredients” might be another coworker “throwing us under the bus” … in order to shift blame and dodge personal accountability.
Our “ingredients” might be customers yelling at us, in a very unkind way.
Our “ingredients” might be getting blamed unjustly for something we didn’t do and, as a result, being unfairly punished.
It is vital that we have a “kitchen drawer” full of “tools” (from God’s Word) so that we can make something out of these “ingredients” … instead of letting them just sit around on the “kitchen counter” of our soul and go rotten.
God can use all things in our life. Even the awful things. Even the “ingredients” we don’t want.
Do you have a “kitchen drawer” in your soul filled with “tools” from Scripture to help you make something out of the “ingredients” life gives you each day?
If not, you can start right now. You can start reading the Bible each day and filling up your “kitchen drawer” with spiritual “tools.”
And out of an unwanted disappointment in life, you might find yourself able to make the most amazing-tasting “gluten-free, sugar-free, dairy-free Chocolate Chip Cookies”!
