Red, White, and Blue … we’ve got a job to do!


Yesterday I had the excitement of bunny-sitting.   The complex where my daughter lives was having the fire alarms tested yesterday.   A maintenance team, along with county fire authorities were going from building to building testing the fire alarms of each building in general.   Then they were going apartment to apartment testing the fire alarms in each room.    

To spare Bunny from the noise of the fire alarm testing, my daughter asked if Bunny could come hang out with me at my house for the day.    


I was very excited to bunny-sit!   And Bunny likewise was very excited about his new and exciting playdate.    

He was excited to explore his new play area!    


He was excited to explore the play area I had set up for him underneath the table.   



The thing is, Bunny does not like hardwood floors.   He will not set paw on hardwood floors.    So I was able to go outside yesterday morning for several hours to weed and not worry that while I was outside Bunny might disappear somewhere in the remote recesses of my house where I would have a hard time finding him.    

Bunny had total freedom in my house while I was outside weeding.    

But because Bunny does not like hardwood floors,  I knew I could trust Bunny not to leave his play area and venture onto the carpet.    


Sure enough, each time I checked in on Bunny he was happily munching his hay.    


As the day progressed, each time I checked in on Bunny he was sleeping.   Zzzzzzzz  …    


Zzzzzzz …     



All day yesterday Bunny had total freedom in my house  …  and the entire day he remained in his specific little space over in the dining room.   (He also discovered that underneath the stool was his new favorite hideaway spot)    


The title of this blog post is:  “Red, white, and blue  …  we’ve got a job to do!”    

As I watched Bunny yesterday, I was struck with the thought that most people nowadays seem to want to live their lives as if they are a bunny.   They want a safe little corner with a few fun toys and amusements, then they want to spend the rest of their time eating and “sleeping” their lives away.   

This is the modern world that we live in.    


When we look at the Declaration of Independence we read:    

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”    


Yesterday in my house Bunny had a good comfortable life.   Bunny had liberty  …  he was not in a cage, he had absolute freedom.    And Bunny was able to have the pursuit  of happiness  …  eating all the hay he wanted and sleeping all day long.    

This is the modern world we live in.    

Everyone wants a good comfortable life.   Everyone wants absolute freedom.   And everyone wants to purse happiness by eating and being apathetic, complacent, and lazy.    



Satan is destroying our country through apathy  …  complacency  …  and laziness.   


All that is required for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing.  



Red, white, and blue  …  we are acting like bunnies.    What do you think would happen to Bunny if he was not safely protected inside my house?     What would happen to Bunny if he was enjoying his happy life of freedom outside in my forest?   

He would get eaten!    


So too, the vast majority of people in our country are enjoying their happy life of freedom just like bunnies:   apathetic  …  complacent  …  lazy  …  “sleeping away” (so to speak) their comfortable lives.   And in this we will get “eaten”!     

All that is required for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing.    


Red, white, and blue  …  we’ve got a job to do!    


“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him;  male and female he created them.    God blessed them and said to them,  ‘Be fruitful and increase in number;   fill the earth and subdue it.’”   – Genesis 1:27-28      

Here at the beginning of all things, God established marriage as the foundational cornerstone for civilization.   Marriage between one man and one woman.    


Red, white, and blue  …  we’ve got a job to do!      God has established marriage (between one man and one woman) as the foundational cornerstone for civilization.   If we are just playing around enjoying our happy life of freedom, apathetic, complacent, lazy, and “sleeping around” without actually marrying  …  eventually we will get “eaten”!    

We have been tasked by our Creator to marry and have families  …  this is the foundational cornerstone for our civilization.     

If, as a country, we continue to play around enjoying our happy lives of freedom, apathetic, complacent, lazy, and “sleeping around” without actually marrying  …  eventually our country will get “eaten”!

At the beginning of all things God blessed marriage and God instructed married couples to have children.   


Red, white, and blue  …  we’ve got a job to do!       God established families as the foundational cornerstone for civilization.   If we are playing around enjoying our happy lives of freedom, while murdering the next generation  …  there won’t be a next generation to keep our country going.    If we do not value the life of children …  as a country we will get eaten!    If we do not value families  …  as a country we will get eaten!

At the beginning of all things, God established that mankind should subdue the earth.   (or “have dominion” – KJV)    


Red, white, and blue  …  we’ve got a job to do!       God wants us to create culture.    We cannot create culture if we are acting like bunnies “sleeping away” our life enjoying our absolute freedom     …  apathetic, complacent, and lazy.    


A huge part of creating culture requires that we have the next generation as the primary focus of what we are doing  …  because the culture which we are creating today is the culture in which the next generation will live tomorrow.     

The problems we are creating today are the problems which the next generation will have to take responsibility for solving tomorrow.    


A huge part of creating culture is pouring into the next generation.    A huge part of creating culture is mentoring the next generation.    A huge part of creating culture is setting an example for the next generation.     

The next generation are the people who will keep our country going.   And if we aren’t valuing the next generation, if we aren’t pouring into the next generation  …  then there won’t be a next generation to keep our country going!    

Red, white, and blue  …  we’ve got a job to do!    



We cannot act like bunnies, only living for a good comfortable life.   We cannot act like bunnies enjoying our absolute freedom only to eat and “sleep” our life away being apathetic, complacent, and lazy.
