Overflowing with much thanks to God!

Overflowing with much thanks to God!

I headed out to the store just now to pick up some salad and salsa, and when I got to the entrance of our neighborhood to pull out onto the main road  …  someone had mowed the tall grasses which were blocking the view!

I was SO thankful!

This time of year the tall grasses spring up and wind up blocking the view where we pull out onto the main road.   All last week, whenever I needed to go somewhere it was dangerous because I could not see at all if anyone was coming from the right.   I could see to the left ok  …  and if all was clear to the left, I would just pull on out  …  only to be shocked that cars were coming on the right!   Each time I would throw on the brakes and pull into the middle lane to let the traffic clear.

Frightening!

But today!   Today I pulled up to the entrance of our neighborhood and some kind person from our neighborhood had brought their lawn mower out to the entrance and mowed the tall grasses!

I was SO very thankful!

I could clearly see to pull out.   It was such a huge blessing!

I don’t know who the kind person from our neighborhood was who gave such a blessing to all of us, but I am very grateful!

Immediately the verse popped into my head which I shared a couple of blog posts ago:

“This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.

“Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, men will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else.

“And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you.”  – 2 Corinthians 9:12-14

Yes!   That was me this morning as I drove to the grocery store to get salad and salsa.   I was overflowing with many expressions of thanks to God for the kind person who had mowed the tall grasses.   (usually when the tall grasses are mowed once they stay down the rest of the year, so it only takes one good mowing).

I was thanking God for this kind person and asking God to bless them for their kind act of service for all of us in our little neighborhood.

The above verse says that people will praise God for the kind deeds done and generosity shared.   Yes!   That was me this morning  …   I was praising God for the kind deed done and the generosity which had been shared.

The verse also says that in people’s prayers for the kind-deed-doer, their hearts will go out to them.   Yes!   That was also me this morning.   In my prayers for the kind-deed-doer who mowed the tall grasses, my heart went out to them because of the kindness they had shown.   I have no idea if they love God or follow Jesus Christ.    But their kindness was indeed a glimpse of the kindness and love of Jesus.

I don’t know who they are.  I don’t know how I would find out to be able to thank them personally  …  but I can thank God for them!   I can thank God and ask God to bless them!
