There is so much evil in the world, it’s wearisome to get out of bed and face each new day.
The hatred, verbal attacks, and slander we see splashed everywhere is unreal.
God does not delight in evil. Love does not delight in evil.

(This is Point Bonita Lighthouse … at the entrance to San Francisco Bay)
Stealing is pervasive! It’s wearisome. It’s crushing to the soul.
God does not delight in evil.
Love does not delight in evil.
Lying is pervasive. It’s wearisome. It’s crushing to the soul.
God does not delight in evil.
Love does not delight in evil.
Rudeness is pervasive. It’s crushing to the soul.
God does not delight in evil.
Love does not delight in evil.
A box showed up on my porch this past weekend.

“Spoonful of Comfort”
What could it be?? I was so curious. The top of the box was labeled: “Perishable. Fragile”
Lo and behold! … it was from a very dear precious friend! What a total surprise!
Hubby and I had just come through a very difficult week! We had been crushed. The stealing had been crushing! The lying had been crushing! The rudeness had been crushing!
And here … was a gift of love! A gift of comfort!
My very dear precious friend knew nothing about what had gone on in mine and hubby’s life this past week. She knew nothing of the crushing disappointment! She knew nothing of the crushing stealing. She knew nothing of the crushing rudeness. Yet … here was a care package of “Comfort” and love … right when we needed it!
This right here is what love looks like! God is love! God is comfort!
If God’s Holy Spirit lives within us empowering us, God’s very own love and comfort will flow from our life to others! Just like God’s love flowed from my very dear precious friend. I felt God’s love in her comfort to us. This is love!
“The God of all comfort, comforts us in all our troubles.” – 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
God is not stealing – God is generous and giving.
God is not lying – God is honest and true.
God is not rudeness – God is kind and good.
God is intentional in his love to us! Just like my dear friend was intentional in her love to me and hubby.
Intentional thought and creativity had been put into our “Spoonful of Comfort” care package. This intentionality and creativity was not lost on me. In fact, it brought great comfort to me! … that so much intentionality and creativity would be spent … for me?

Love is intentional. Love is creative.
Each box within the “Spoonful of Comfort” care package had its own unique color-theme and design. The main box was yellow. There was a yellow-themed notecard with a message from my dear precious friend. Also included was a meaningful quote on cardstock.

The intentionality and effort put into the design meant a lot to me!
The box containing “Hearty and Heartwarming Baked Potato Soup” was beautifully packaged! The theme of this box was green. The little “bonnets” on each soup container were adorable and matched the color theme. A meaningful quote was printed on the inside flap of the box.

The intentionality and effort meant so much to me! I felt loved!
And … the soup was unbelievably delicious! The absolute best potato soup hubby and I have ever had!
The box containing dinner rolls had an orange color theme.

While the box containing Chocolate-Chip Cookies had a red color theme. Notice the quote printed on the inside flap of the cookie box. This brought me so much happiness.

Love is intentional.
Love is comfort.
“The God of all comfort, comforts us in all our troubles.” – 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Love does not delight in evil. But rather, love comforts hearts which have been crushed by evil. Love comforts those who have been crushed by stealing. Love comforts those who have been crushed by lying. Love comforts those who have been crushed by rudeness.
Love does not delight in evil.
Love comforts … one “spoonful” at a time.
