The apple trees are in full bloom! As I stand at my kitchen sink doing the dishes and look out my kitchen window, the trees are beautiful puff-clouds of white! They’re so pretty!

With that many blooms, it would logically make sense that there should be an overabundant apple harvest this coming fall.
But I’m dubious. I highly doubt we’ll get many apples in the fall.
Why be so doubtful?? The trees are loaded with blooms! There’s so much potential there! Just look at them.
The doubt comes from the fact that last year the trees had an abysmal harvest. Very few apples. And the few tiny scrawny apples that there were, were buggy and wormy. So no … I don’t have much faith that this year’s harvest will match the showy display of blooms.
I can’t help but think how often Christians put on a showy display of spiritual “blooms” just like the apple trees. Wow! Just look at all those spiritual “blooms”! Isn’t that amazing! They must be really good Christians. They must have such a “harvest of righteousness” in their life!
But sometimes the “showiest” of Christians are the ones who, just like the apple trees, wind up having an abysmal “harvest” come fall. In spite of all that “show,” their spiritual “fruit” is sparse. And the little bit of scrawny “fruit” that there is … is “buggy” and “full of worms.”
There’s more to the Christian life than just putting on a good “show.” There’s more to the Christian life than a “showy” display of “blooms.” When it comes down to it, is there a “harvest of righteousness”??
Is there any “fruit” on the tree? And is the “fruit” actually good??
