I am blessed when I obey what God tells me to do in his Word.

I am blessed when I obey what God tells me to do in his Word.

It doesn’t matter how much Bible I know … if I do not obey what the Bible says then I cannot receive God’s blessing on my life.   God does not bless simply knowing lots of Bible information.   God blesses obedience to what the Bible instructs.

Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the LORD.”   – Psalm 119:1

Perhaps you might be wondering:  “It says ‘blessed are those whose ways are blameless.’   I am not perfect.   I am not ‘blameless.’   So how is that possible?”

As we obey what God tells us to do in his Word – the Bible – we will have lives which are in the process of becoming more and more like Jesus Christ.   As we obey what God tells us to do in his Word, we will have desires which match God’s desires  …  we will not want to intentionally sin  …  we will desire holiness.

This right here is what Psalm 119:1 is meaning when it says, “Blessed are those whose ways are blameless.”   It is not referring to perfection.   It is referring to becoming more and more like Jesus by actively obeying the Bible.   It is referring to growing more and more in holiness as a result of actively obeying the Bible.

I am blessed when I obey what God tells me to do in his Word.
