Recently hubby and I were away on a brief reprieve. We were in a small local grocery store when I noticed a toy – a small floppy flying watermelon disc. “Oh, a very special little 4 year-old would absolutely love that!”
“And look! There’s a flying pizza disc too! How fun! A very special 6 year-old would love that!”
The next day we were browsing through some touristy souvenir junk shops when a rather complicated-looking volcano building block set grabbed my attention. “Oh, a very special 12 year-old would love that!”
The floppy watermelon flying disc, the flying pizza disc, and the complicated volcano building block set all came back to the Air B&B with us … where I proceeded to set them up on display. Good things stored up! For precious little friends whom we love very much!
Whenever I came and went the next few days, seeing them brought me so much happiness and joy! I couldn’t wait to put together an “I love you” care-box to send to our precious little friends in Alaska.
Today hubby got the box put in the mail … and it’s on its way!
Good things stored up … for precious little friends whom we love very much!
It reminds me of the Bible verse about how God has good things stored up for those who love him.
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him.” – 1 Corinthians 2:9
Just like I saw the floppy flying watermelon disc and immediately a little 4 year-old’s name popped into my head … so also, in the same way God loves us very much and there are things he knows that we specifically will really like! God loves to give good gifts to his kids just like hubby and I love to send special gifts to the precious little kids we love.
“How great is your goodness God, which you have stored up for those who fear you.” – Psalm 31:19
God has good things stored up for those who love him! Just like the stash of goodness I had sitting out on display on the dining room table of our Air B&B … God has a “stash of goodness” just waiting for us! How cool is that!
And just like it brought me great happiness and joy every time I glanced over and saw the good things stored up for our precious little friends in Alaska … so also, it brings God great happiness and joy, the good things he has stored up for us!
The good things stored up for the precious little 4 year-old, and 6 year-old, and 12 year-old were not because they had done anything to earn it. It was simply because hubby and I love them! It was simply to let them know how much we love them!
In the same way, the good things which God has stored up for us are not because we have done anything to earn it. They are simply because God loves us! They are simply to let us know how much God loves us!
Love is action. Love isn’t just words.
