The day after hubby and I returned back home from our trip away to a far distant city, our power company had a planned power outage for some maintenance work. Both hubby and I had received text messages while we were away that the planned power outage would occur. We had received an email from our power company letting us know the planned power outage would occur.
We had been given fair warning.
I had multiple loads of laundry I needed to do (after having been away for travel). The loads of laundry would have to wait. There would be no power from 8am-6pm. We had been given fair warning.
Usually I dilly-dally and dawdle when it comes to getting my shower in the mornings. The morning of the power outage I did not dilly-dally or dawdle! I hopped in the shower first thing! Our house does not have a hot water heater tank like most homes do. Instead, our house has a boiler which heats the water as it is needed.
What this means is that there is no tank full of hot water sitting there available when the power goes out. No. When the power goes out the boiler immediately stops heating the water … and if you happen to be in the shower woe be unto you!
We had been given fair warning. I acted upon this fair warning.
Hubby and I made sure the battery pack “generator” was charged up so it could run the fireplace fan while the power was out.
We made sure the wood in the wood box was stocked, so I could keep a fire going in the fireplace and have heat while the power was out.
We had been given fair warning.
And just as we had been warned … the power went out.
The thing is, it didn’t go out right at 8am, as the possibility had been. 8:00am came and went. Everything seemed fine. 8:30am came and went. Everything seemed fine. 8:45am came and went. Still everything was like it always was.
Then at 9am … the power was gone!
This made me think how humanity has been given fair warning that Jesus is going to come back to judge the living and the dead. We have been given fair warning that we will stand before our Maker and Creator and give an account for how we used the time on earth we were given.
We have been given fair warning that Jesus is the one and only doorway into Heaven.
Many people think that since Jesus hasn’t come back yet, then it must not be true. After all, 8am came and went and everything continued just as it always had. The power didn’t go out.
Many people think they are getting away with their sin and that they won’t really be judged for their sin. After all, God hasn’t done anything. Nothing has happened. Everything is continuing just as it always has.
God has given humanity fair warning.
We are without excuse.
“It is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment.” – Hebrews 9:27
Jesus said: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” – John 14:6
“Each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.” – Romans 14:12
Jesus speaking: “Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” – Revelation 22:12-13
We have been given fair warning.

Every person everywhere has been given fair warning. “Men are without excuse.” – Romans 1:18-20 Whether or not people choose to act upon that warning is up to them. But we all have been given fair warning.)
