Boldness and confidence

Boldness and confidence

I wrote several months ago about my daughter’s bunny which she adopted from her good friends.   ( Trapped in the “cage” of what used to be – Daily Blessing Life Lessons  )

Up until my daughter adopted Bunny, Bunny had only ever lived in his cage out on a back patio.   Bunny had never left the cage, so Bunny didn’t know what it was like to have freedom to explore outside the cage.

Shortly after adopting Bunny, my daughter began bringing Bunny inside each afternoon when she got home from work.   She set up a little “playpen” for Bunny  …  which Bunny enjoyed very much.

My daughter even tried to encourage Bunny to hop down out of his cage into his bunny “playpen.”   On one particular Saturday, when my daughter needed to clean the cage out, she placed Bunny’s cage right next to his bunny “playpen” with the doors of the cage wide open.   All Bunny had to do was hop down into his play area with all of his fun things.

But Bunny had never hopped.   Bunny had never jumped.   Bunny had only ever sat in his cage.

Bunny didn’t know how to get down out of his cage into his bunny “playpen.”

For a full hour Bunny sat there in his empty cage, with the doors wide open, looking at freedom and wishing he could hop out to freedom  …  but not quite knowing how.

Over the past few months Bunny has come a long way.   He first began learning to hop by taking a small hop out of his hay “litter box.”

Once Bunny gained confidence hopping in and out of his hay “litter box”  …  he began the monumental hop down out of his cage on the back patio.   Each day my daughter would come home from work in the afternoon and open up the doors to his cage.   Bunny knew he was welcome to hop out and have freedom, but it was up to him to hop down.

Bunny mastered hopping down out of his cage and back up into his cage.

In no time the bunny “playpen” was no longer necessary.   Bunny easily hopped over the low fencing.

So Bunny graduated to having his own corner of the living room.

Here you can see Bunny has full confidence.   This is his home and he knows it.   He is loved and he knows it.   He has freedom and he knows it.

Each evening Bunny gets to sit on my daughter’s lap and watch tv with her, while she brushes his fur.

Bunny knows he is loved.   Bunny knows he is cared for.   Bunny is confident and secure.

Just this week Bunny has started jumping up onto the couch  …  and then back down again.   It’s his new favorite thing to do.   Up  …  then back down  …  up  …  then back down  …  etc. …

Doesn’t he just look so pleased with himself!  (Haha!)

Bunny obviously has boldness and confidence.

It reminds me of Hebrews 4:16 –  “Let us then come boldly with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”

Just like Bunny has boldness and confidence  …  this right here is how God wants us to be towards him.   God wants us to have the same kind of boldness and confidence to come to him with whatever need we might have.

Bunny has boldness and confidence because he knows he is loved.

Bunny has boldness and confidence because he knows he is cared for.

Bunny has boldness and confidence because he is secure.

We too can have boldness and confidence because we are loved by God!

We too can have boldness and confidence because we are cared for by God!

We too can have boldness and confidence because we are secure!

Let us then come boldly and with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”   – Hebrews 4:16
