Hubby and I went to go get the mail … and on our way back we passed these beautiful Douglas Meadowsweet blooms, with the evening sunset highlighting them. I do love Douglas Meadowsweet!

Hubby and I had just turned down our driveway, coming back from checking the mail, when I noticed a huge owl perched atop a tree snag off in the forest. Whoa! That owl is ginormous! It’s amazing how it blends in so perfectly with the forest background. (Even highlighting it in the photo, it still just looks like part of the tree.)
But it was most definitely not part of the tree. Its head swiveled all the way around completely backwards! That’s amazing! I didn’t realize owls could do that with their head.

It had been a very warm day … with the temperature having climbed up to 95*. Oh check it out! The little lady who loves to eat my Bunchberry Dogwoods is getting a drink from the birdbath.
This made me so happy … that our forest wildlife “friends” could get a refreshing drink after a super-hot day!

I received a text message from my son with this photo. He and his lovely wife were enjoying a date-night riding the ferry across the Puget Sound just for kicks. What a terrific view of Mt. Rainier!
