I was pondering this morning how that when it comes to just about anything in life, you have to pay for it.
If you would like a delicious cup of goodness from your favorite local coffee shop … you have to pay for it. If you would like to enjoy a beautiful piece of artwork on your wall at home … you have to pay for it. If you would like to enjoy good music from fantastic musicians … you have to pay for it.
If you would like watch a movie on a Friday night … you have to pay for it. If you would like to watch an NFL football game … you have to pay for it.
Just about everything in life (it seems) requires that we pay for it!
It’s exhausting to think about … the continual struggle to earn money, so that we can continually pay for just about everything!
Except … a beautiful sunrise … that’s free! God didn’t have to give it to us for free. But he did! God gives us the beautiful blessing of an entire sky turning brilliant shades of color! For free!
And he didn’t give it to us for free just once! He gives it to us for free day, after day, after day, after day … ! He gives it to us for free! That’s mind blowing!
Or how about a waterfall! The sound of the water pouring over the edge and crashing onto the rocks below! Mists of water spraying up … catching the sunlight to cast beautiful rainbows of color! It’s free! God gives it to us for free! He doesn’t make us pay for it. That’s mind blowing!
And he didn’t give us just one waterfall. He gives us waterfalls all over the place! For free! We can enjoy them without having to pay for them!
Or how about the joyful songs of hundreds of little birds filling the forest … it’s free!
Or … the wild crazy patterns of storm clouds in the sky … intense greys shifting and swirling and heaping up as a storm moves in! It’s free! I don’t have to pay for this amazing view!
Or … the vast expanse of brilliant blue waters stretching out as far as the eye can see! It’s free!
One of the highlights of our cruise this past summer was that you could get all the free ice cream you wanted! It was awesome!
It was really good ice cream too! All you had to do was go up on the pool deck, walk up to the ice cream worker, and tell them whether you wanted chocolate or vanilla. And viola … a free ice cream cone! You didn’t have to pay for it! This was mind blowing! (granted, it was included in the price of the cruise, but regardless, it was mind blowing!)
And there was no limit! You could keep coming back again … and again … and again!
That’s the way God is to us! God gives us so many wonderful blessings in life … and they are free!
No human being can paint the sky the way God does! And if a human could paint the sky the way God does, you can be sure they would charge a fortune for people to have an opportunity to see it. But God lets us enjoy his beautiful blessing for free!
God gives us so many wonderful things for free every single day! Just like free ice cream cones! Like, as much ice cream as you want! That’s amazing!
I am so thankful that God doesn’t charge us for his blessings, the way we have to pay for just about everything else in life. God is so good! I am so very grateful!
Thank you God for all your wonderful blessing for free! … day, after day, after day, after day, …
