Once more this morning the sun came up a fiery ball of red-orange through the smoke. Overnight the smoke from the eastern part of my state wafted westward and was broken up by the peaks and valleys of the Cascade Mountain range. Being broken up by the mountain range helped a lot and the air is a bit better this morning as we got up.
Thank you God for air which is easier to breathe!

Another blessing of the season of orange is that the heavy smoke in the air blocks the sun, thereby keeping the temperatures a few degrees cooler. Originally, we were supposed to have a hot week this week, with temps climbing up into the 90’s* F. But with all the smoke it is keeping the temps down in the 80’s* F.

This morning my daughter sent me a text with a song from “Sight & Sound Theaters” from their stage productions “Daniel” – In the Fire
With all the smoke and fires over on the eastern side of our state, and people whom we know having to flee their homes … this song really resonated deeply and hit home for me! I especially loved the final refrain:
“You are here, in the fire.
You are here, in the valley.
You are here, on the mountain.
You are here, all around me.
You are here, in the heartache.
You are here, in the darkness.
You are here, in the struggle.
And we want to be where you are.”
What a huge blessing this morning!

In the middle of it all, a little flower in a pot on the back deck has just started blooming. It’s from a packet of flower seeds my daughter received as a party-favor gift at an event she went to. She gave the packet of seeds to me, and I sowed them in a pot … having no idea what to expect.
Check out the beautiful flowers which are now blooming from those seeds. According to my Seek nature app they are: Plains Coreopsis.
