Joyful surprise

Joyful surprise

After taking some recyclables out to the recycle bin at the road, I was coming back down the driveway when a bright beam of sunlight shining down through the trees and illuminating this mushroom caught my attention. Check that out! It has its very own spotlight! I never would have even noticed it otherwise.

I didn’t know mushrooms grew in the summertime.

Suddenly curious as to whether or not there are such a thing as Fungi Festivals … I checked with Google. Sure enough, over on the Olympic Peninsula every October there is a full-on Fungi Festival. Who knew!

What a joyful surprise! What a joyful daily blessing!

While walking loops for exercise these bright red berries caught my attention. The wild shoelace blackberries actually have berries! I don’t think I have ever seen the wild shoelace blackberries produce berries before. I was fascinated by the shape of the berries. They are more oval-shaped than the typical round-shape of the invasive Himalayan blackberries which I’m familiar with. How cool is that!

I highly doubt I’ll be able to get a photo of the berries once they are ripe. The deer will probably gobble them up before then. But regardless … what a joyful surprise! What a joyful daily blessing!

My Nasturtium is blooming! (from my Christmas Advent Seed Calendar) This was a total surprise when I glanced out the back window last night! So exciting! I’d never even heard of Nasturtium before, let alone had any idea what the blooms might look like.

Isn’t that a beautiful bloom!

What a joyful surprise! What a joyful daily blessing!

And last but not least … buttercups blooming in profusion! Cheerful buttercups bring me so much joy! And it was a surprise when I took the photo and noticed a little bee all busy on the flower. What a joyful surprise! What a joyful daily blessing!

Thank you God for joyful surprises. Thank you God for joyful daily blessings!
