I have been known to crisis to hubby and my kids that regarding the blog I just can’t seem to write anything less than a 6-7 min. read. Who on earth would take the time for a 7-min read?
In response, my daughter shared a funny joke that she and her friends have, how that most people don’t really want “daily bread” … all they really want is a “daily crouton.”
That’s hilarious!
And true!
When hubby and I were recently away in a distant city visiting loved ones, we all went out to a fancy restaurant for dinner. This place is known for their signature all-you-can-eat meat fest. This signature meat fest starts out with an all-you-can-eat salad bar … which is amazing!
Then, once you have returned from the salad bar with your plate loaded with goodness, the meat servers start coming around to your table with skewers of every sort of meat imaginable! There are all different types and steak … there are pork chops … fancy sausage … chicken … lamb … bacon-wrapped sirloin (amazing!) … bacon-wrapped chicken … filet mignon, etc. …
You have a little coaster at your place at the table which is red on one side (indicating to the meat servers that you are not interested) … and the other side is green (indicating to the meat servers to please stop … I definitely would like some more meat!)
It was such great fun! … with meat servers constantly stopping by bearing skewers loaded with all sorts of fantastic meat options! All you had to do was ask … and they would add meat to your plate!
“Why yes! I would love some bacon-wrapped sirloin! Oh … and yes! I would love some bacon-wrapped chicken too!”
Ooooo … roasted pineapple on a skewer. I’ll try some of that! Oh that is the most delicious pineapple I’ve ever eaten! That definitely deserves seconds!
Dinner was not so much a meal as it was a party! The whole experience was tons of fun!
When I think about the Lord’s Prayer and: “Give us this day our daily bread” … I think God has a “meat fest” he wants to bless us with!
God doesn’t just want to give us a “daily crouton.”
God has an entire fantastic “meat fest” for us! Every deep wonderful thing in the Scriptures he wants to share with us and “feed” us with!
“’No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him,’ but God has revealed it to us by his Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. … No one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.
