Every morning the sun rises. Well, not exactly here. It’s the winter rainy season here … so it’s rare to see the sun rise here where I live. But way up above the clouds … the sun is rising nonetheless.
Every day. The sun rises.
We don’t have to wonder. We don’t have to worry if it will rise or not.
The sun rises down in Tucson.
The sun rises on the other side of the world, in Italy.
The sun rising will never fail. It is faithful. It is consistent. It is trustworthy. It can be counted on … because God has given us the sun rising as a gift of love.
God’s gift of love is a reflection of God himself. God is faithful. God is consistent. God is trustworthy. God can be counted on. God never fails.
If we are a follower of Jesus Christ, Jesus pours out his very own love into our heart. The love of Jesus flows through us … to others. Therefore, our acts of love and our gifts of love towards others will be a reflection of Jesus’s love.
Our love will likewise be faithful. Our love will be consistent. Our love will be trustworthy. Our love can be counted on.
Love never fails.
I have been walking loops around my front gravel drive for exercise each day. A little tiny Douglas squirrel has been busy eating Big-leaf maple seeds as I walk my loops. There are so many seeds, the little tiny squirrel stays in basically the same spot the entire hour I walk loops … finding and eating seeds the entire time.
God has given the little tiny squirrel seeds as a gift of love and provision. God is faithful. God is consistent. God’s provision for the little squirrel can be counted on. The seeds are abundantly available all across the forest floor.
Love never fails.
So also, in the same way, if we are a follower of Jesus Christ, our love towards others will likewise be faithful. It won’t be a question as to whether or not we will care about them today, then “ghost” them tomorrow and the next week. Love never fails.
If the love of Jesus Christ is flowing through us (via the power of the Holy Spirit) our life will be characterized by love that is consistent … love that can be counted on.
We won’t withhold our love from someone as a way to “punish” them. We won’t withhold our love from someone as a way to manipulate or gain control.
We won’t withhold our love when we don’t get what we want.
Love never fails.
If we are a follower of Jesus Christ, the love we show towards others will be a reflection of Jesus himself. Jesus is faithful. Jesus is consistent. Jesus is trustworthy. Jesus can be counted on. Jesus never fails.
Therefore … the love which we show/demonstrate via action towards others will likewise be faithful … our love will be consistent … our love will be trustworthy … our love can be counted on.
Love never fails.
