A slippery place!

A slippery place!

Before our tour guide let us climb the metal stairs to get up on top of the great rock called Mars Hill, he gave us a grave warning:   “Do not leave the path to climb and walk all over the rock!   The rock is very slick and slippery (due to 2,000 years-worth of people walking all over it).   Do not leave the path  …  or you will most likely fall  …  and have to take a trip to the hospital.”

He was not joking!

Hubby and I stayed strictly on the path.   And even still, I had a slight slip  …  even with my super gripping hiking shoes.

Of course, once we got up there, lots of people were climbing and clambering all over the rock!

It makes me think that this is what it’s like when it comes to all different kinds of religions and spiritualities.   Lots of people are “climbing and clambering all over the rock” (so to speak) as they explore different faiths, religions, and spiritualities.

We see everyone clambering and climbing all over the rock, and it seems fine.   We don’t notice anyone slipping and falling.

Jesus said:  “I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.”  – John 14:6

Jesus is the path.   Jesus is the path to Heaven.

Jesus is the only way to Heaven.

If we leave the path, we will be “clambering over a very slippery slick place” (so to speak).   Exploring different faiths, religions, and spiritualities is like “clambering over a slippery slick rock” …  it will result in a fall!

If someone were to slip and fall on the slippery slick rock of Mars Hill they would probably fracture an ankle bone, break a hip, dislocate a shoulder, etc. … .   Or worse  …  if they slip and lose their footing, they could slide right off the edge  …  falling hundreds of feet below!   This would be disastrous!

This is what it is like when it comes to exploring different faiths, religions, and spiritualities.   It is a very slick slippery place!

Jesus is the one and only way to Heaven.

Jesus is the path with sure, firm footing.

Hubby and I would not have known the rock was so slippery and slick if our tour guide had not warned us.

If we had not been warned to stay on the path, hubby and I would have been right there along with everyone else climbing and clambering all over the rock.   And we probably would have slipped  …  and perhaps fallen.

When Paul stood on this very spot, here on this great rock called Mars Hill he gave this warning:

“He [the One True God] commands all people everywhere to repent.   For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed.  He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead.”  [this is Jesus Christ!]   – Acts 17:30-31

To “clamber and climb all over the rock” exploring different religions, faiths, and spiritualities will result in disaster!   The One True God has set a day when he will judge the world with justice.   The only path to escape this disaster is Jesus Christ.

Jesus is the one and the only way!

Jesus is the path.
