Some bug has taken up residence on my Hoopes rose this summer and has been eating the leaves to smithereens. Here you can see the chewed up leaves …

I really liked this photo of the raindrops on the rose … it makes me think of tears. Oftentimes in life this is what it is like. We get “chewed up” by life. But is spite of it all we continue to “bloom” and we look like a gorgeous rose to the world. But deep down we are crying on the inside. We feel broken. We feel tattered. We feel chewed up!

But it’s not over! Hope is not lost! Look … there are fresh new leaves coming out! And a new little rose bud! There is still hope!

And here is another little cluster of fresh new leaves! With a new little rose bud!

It did my heart so much good to see all the fresh new life coming out on my little rose bush.
Yes, life will sometimes “chew us up” … but God will never abandon us or forsake us! God is right here with us … and God is breathing fresh life into our here and now.
There is always hope!
