Life is really hard! It seems that just about everyone we know is going through something really difficult right now!
This path of life we are on, just like a twisting curving hike through the forest, takes us up rises and down the other side.
But sometimes life’s path takes us directly in between a rock and a hard place!
We don’t want to go between a rock and a hard place!
We would rather go around the rock and a hard place. But the way is blocked! The rock is too big! There is no way to get over it. And there is no way to go around it. On one side the hill rises steeply. And on the other side the bank drops away into a swift rushing river! The only way is to follow the path … which leads between the rock and the hard place!
We know that God won’t lead us where his grace will not sustain us. And so we follow the path which God has marked out for us. We follow by faith. We follow … trusting that God will help us and sustain us between the rock and the hard place!
And lo and behold! … we find that there is just enough room for us to make it between the rock and the hard place!
And … much to our surprise, we discover there is actually beauty between the rock and the hard place.
We look back on the path where we have just come … shocked and surprised that we actually made it through that rock and hard place.
The thing is … this won’t be the only rock and a hard place the path goes between. There’ll be another rock and a hard place a little further on down the trail.
And with God’s grace and help, we’ll make it through that one too.
And then there’ll be another one.
And another one.
This is the path of life.
Yes, life’s path might take us between a rock and a hard place … but God will be with us each step of the way! And God will make sure that there’s enough room for us to make it through. Every . single . time.
