When the garbage workers go on strike …

When the garbage workers go on strike …

Hubby and I have had two old broken dehumidifiers sitting around in the workshop for over a year now.   We’ve got heaps of styrophome which need to be gotten rid of.   We’ve got bags of garbage (from a recent cleaning-out endeavor) which need to be gotten rid of.

We need to take a load to the dump.

The only problem is  …  the garbage workers are on strike at the moment.

Thankfully it is not the Waste Management workers who service our area.   Thankfully our weekly garbage pick-up has continued like normal.

It is the Waste Republic workers who are striking.   The areas serviced by this company have not had garbage pickup for a couple of weeks now.   The people who live in these areas are having to tote their own garbage to the dump.

And as a result, there have been super long lines at the different dump facilities.

The two old, broken dehumidifiers which hubby & I need to dispose of can sit around another week or two.   There is no rush when it comes to the heaps of styrophome.   And the bags from the clean-out project aren’t urgent.

But I can’t help thinking about all the people who are now stuck with their weekly household garbage sitting around  …  garbage bags containing food scraps which will go stinky and smelly fast!    After all, it’s the middle of the summer … it’s been super-hot recently!   I guess that’s why the workers chose this particular time to go on strike.

In thinking about the garbage workers being on strike, this verse popped into my mind:  “You God will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea.”  – Micah 7:19

All those bad things we’ve done that we feel ashamed of  …  God can take it all away for us!

All those mistakes we’ve made that we regret  …  God can take it all away for us!

All the “ick” and “garbage” in our life that we wish we could get rid of  …  God can take it all away for us!   We don’t have to have heaps of “ick” and sin sitting around in our life.

We don’t have to have piles of shame and regret piling up in our soul.   All that stinky “garbage” in our soul  …  God can take it all away for us!   God can get rid of it!

God never goes on strike.

God is always ready and available to remove all the “ick” from our life.

“For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;  as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions [aka:  our sin and our “ick”] from us.”  – Psalm 103:11-12

God says:  “I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”  – Hebrews 8:12

“Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives transgressions  …  You God will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea.”  – Micah 7:18-19
