Way back when emojis were first invented, I was perusing these brand-new “smiley-faces” (not quite sure what the purpose of them was for) and I determined that one particular “smiley-face” looked like a “Yay!” Therefore, I began using it in all my text messages to my kids as a “Yay!” emoji.
Both my kids told me: “Mom, that is not a ‘Yay!’ emoji. It’s a ‘Hug’ emoji.”
To which I responded: “Who decided what all these brand-new ‘smiley-face’ emojis mean? I think anybody can decide for themselves what they want them to mean. And to me it looks like a ‘Yay!’”
So, I kept right on using it as a “Yay!”
My kids have tried in vain over the years to tell me it is not a “Yay!” emoji, but rather a “Hug.” However, anytime I see it, it most definitely looks like a “Yay!” … so, I have kept right on using it as a “Yay!”
Before hubby and I left for our recent trip overseas, we decided to get Air tags to put in our luggage. It would be entertaining to track our luggage as we traveled. And if the luggage happened to get lost, it would be helpful in locating it.
The night before hubby and I left, hubby went online and activated each of the Air tags. As part of the activation process we were to select an emoji for each Air tag in order to identify and track it.
Hubby asked me which emoji I would like for my suitcase. To which I immediately responded: “The ‘Yay!’ emoji, of course!” (I tend to naturally be a positive person, so the ‘Yay!’ emoji seemed to sum up who I am)
For hubby’s suitcase I suggested the “Glasses-guy” emoji. The “Glasses-guy” emoji looks smart and brainy … which pretty much sums up who hubby is.

The third suitcase held all of our “extra” stuff: shoes, hats, sunscreen, electrolytes, power converter, etc. … What emoji should we pick for this Air tag?? I suggested on the “Forest deer” emoji … in honor of the deer who make our forest their home. That way we can take a piece of our forest with us on our trip.

Early the next morning hubby and I headed down to the airport, ready for our great adventure. We parked our car in the long-term lot and boarded the shuttle which would take us over to the terminal. Out of curiosity, hubby pulled up the Air tag app to see if it was working.
Sure enough … there went the “Yay!” emoji down the road!

It was absolutely hilarious! I totally laughed out loud!
I couldn’t help but think, if we are a follower of Jesus Christ isn’t this what our life should look like? If we are a follower of Jesus Christ, the joy of Jesus should be so evident and obvious in our life that as we “travel” throughout life our life should look like a “Yay!” travelling down the road.
